AmeriCorps Senior Companion Program
The AmeriCorps Senior Companion Program connects adults aged 55 and older with older seniors who need support with daily tasks to maintain their independence. As a Senior Companion, volunteers assist with activities such as grocery shopping, paying bills, and providing transportation to appointments. These volunteers not only help seniors stay in their homes longer but also provide relief for family caregivers. Many volunteers report improved mental health and reduced feelings of loneliness as they form meaningful connections through their service. Volunteers also may qualify for a stipend, making the program accessible to those on a limited income. With opportunities nationwide, the Senior Companion Program is a great way to give back, form new friendships, and make a positive difference in the lives of others
